Loss of a Publishing Legend

Lilian Jackson Braun (Bettinger), beloved author of the “Cat Who” series passed away at hospice in Landrum, S.C. She had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. We will miss her wit and the joy she has brought to millions of readers across the globe.

Ms. Bettinger wrote her first three novels while working at the Detroit Free Press. In an attempt to broaden her audience her publisher wanted her to add sex and violence to her work. Declining to do so, Ms. Bettinger quit writing the series for 20 years. When she resumed writing her fans welcomed her back with open arms.

Qwilleran and Koko, you will be sorely missed. Thank you Ms. Lilian for many years of reading and listening pleasure.

Well, I have been left with an empty space, her writings provided me hours of great pleasure. Not only because I have learned so much with all her subjects and themes. She would write about one great plot but, intertwined in it she will provide the reader with new knowledge, about places, about other authors, about great things. We will miss you Mrs Jackson.,,,, But Heaven has received a great writer, you are up there with Twain, Shakespeare and many other.
    Thank you for your books.G.
